Finnally, after 3 long weeks, I have finished this.

The subject
Adrian Veidt, aka Ozymandias (played by Matthew Goode), is my favourite of the Watchmen characters and really one of my favourite characters ever. He is very charming and subtle, intelligent, misterious and fascinating and yet what he says and does is like giving you a smack on your face leaving you thinking about it for a long while. He's also the embodiement of the classic dichotomy between the benevolent leader and the megalomaniac tyrant - much like the ancient leaders he seems to be inspired by. When I watched the movie I hadn't read the book yet so I didn't know his arc; yet, when I saw those things he says about Alexander I immediately thought: "a man who's this ambitious, even if only to do good to other people, is always dangerous" - and I was right. But I'm afraid I still don't know whether or not I think his actions were good or bad.

The painting
This started out as just a practice with Painter, which I hadn't used in a long time; I just set out to paint a reproduction of the Ozymandias poster featured in the official site and that's it. But then as it grew I decided to make my own poster instead, which was a bigger challenge. So I painted 3 portraits in one.

The original size is 2320 x 3318. All the painting was done in Painter, and processing effects such as tweaking the colours, filters, etc., was done with Photoshop. I used this brushes for the background: [link]
All in all I figure this must have took me something around 60+ hours.

It might not be perfect and professional looking as a painting, but it took me a very long time and a lot of hard work to make, and I'm proud of it. It will be hanging on my wall as soon as I can go to the store and get a print of it.
